Testing UV lamps On nightmare before christmas Figures.

OK, very short,, I got some UV LED lamps at Rakuten, and Holy-Moly, I love playing with these.
These will obviously enough make my work with UV  much easier, I have already planned to make several models showing UV effects on my previous work.

Just tested them at some revoltech Nightmare before Christmas Figures that finely glows and shows the UV effect very Brightly. Hard to see at the camera even though i shot it as a RAW and brought back the colours.

But Ill definitely have fun with these in the future.

Its perfect for the upcoming Halloween season. ;)

Tokyo Disney sea Journey to the center of the earth Artwork

A while back I did a couple of Very long Pieces inspired by the Tokyo Disney sea Attraction "Journey To the Center of the earth"
I was not part of the original design team on this attraction.
But since its my favourite ride of all time, and Im currently building a huge scale model from the blueprints. I thought it would be good to have some reference to keep track of colours and textures.

These are some of the pieces I have drawn.

Here Im working on the Base station set, which was first done by markers, and all measurements are taken from the Original blueprints of the ride.

This set is sthe Attraction fron you see when you enter The volcano from Mysterious island bay.
The entrance is Next to the sign that says "Journey to the Center of the earth" in illuminated Lava.
The First scene in the ride after the load area is the Crystal cavern.
here you see hundreds of illuminated crystals and waterfalls. The Picture above is done in markers and ink and shows the Right side of the track. The rock work is shaped like a pillar, so this structure is circulated by the ride vehicle.
On the Left side theres is a waterfall exactly like on the right. and continiously holes in the rockwork with even more glowing beautiful crystals.
This print is a almost 1,5 meter long drawing also done in markers, ink and watercolor.

here is a even bigger drawing, I started it in marker which is my favourite media, and I added some digital elements.
I have never really got the digital idea, but I think its good to practice on such projects.
I woudl love to see it all done in hand and maybe I also finish the piece by hand at another time.
Im really sorry about the watermarks, but I would make sure the copyright remains with me.
but you always welcome to share the pictures :)

I hope you enjoyed this little piece of Imagineering for The tokyo Disney resort.
I would also love to hear your thoughts on Tokyo disney sea :) I'm sure Im not the only one who treasure this amazing ride and Theme.

Tokyo Disney Sea Model, Journey to the center of the earth, preview

It took me ages to just get close to a completion of this model.
I never think I would be 100% satisfied, because I want to expand it in every direction as possible.
there are so many parts of this attraction i would love to carve and visualize, and there would alway be the next step to conquer.

The planning of the blueprint for the model was done a approx a year ago and the construction of the wooden frame as well.
The choice of a strong wooden frame, came with the idea of a enclosed water reservoir for the waterfalls and the mushroom forest swamp area.
The swamp area was later done with water effect resin instead to minimize the electrics in the model.

So far, I tried to take some few pictures of the model today, and I think I'm getting to an end where I can call it satisfaction after installing the Crystal lights in the cavern.
I have already planned to do a more accurate model though, with more details on the load area (the Base station).

I kinda decided on the scale very early,It was dictated by the Tomica models you can purchase at the Tokyo disney resort.

So I picket up 6 cars in the Bon voyage shop next to Maihama station to be sure I had the vehicles for the model when completed.

since its far from completed I only want to share some few shots of the model.

The Crystal cave part features led lid crystals from Real quarts and a waterfall on each side of the track.
The smoke feature is installed and the mushroom forest is lid by bio-luminescence mushrooms and animals.

New york shopping, The evolution store, Marvelously Macabre curiosities.

The Evolution Store

So I actually just wanted to drop some pictures from The evolution store I Soho on Manhattan here.

I have been shopping here a lot lately, first of all to improve my specimen collection In Japan, (Sending this stuff is A headache I tell you, you cant wrap this stuff safe enough ) But i also did a lot of shopping for work.
Good realistic props can be hard to come by in Tokyo, so I got a lot of skulls and specimens over here in New York while I'm staying here.

Visiting The  Evolution store has been a huge wish ever since I saw it featured on Mythbusters many years ago.
Now Finally I'm able to shop here weekly for props for both attractions and also the Tv commercials. They have so many great items, some extremely expensive and some really wonderful-bizarre.
These skulls are my newest boom, I have no idea what they are called, but they are cool indeed, showing the parts torn apart and levitating in the display is just beyond cool. This piece is like 1500 dollers and they might end up on my desk in Japan soon enough.

Also animals for your trophy room can be supplied here.
The upper floor is great and have some awesome displays of flora and fauna.
Notice the beautiful peacock in the corner.

I especially liked this butterfly environment because of the simplicity and the colours.

I already have collected many birds, but I definitely need an owl, this one has a cool pose, but I would actually prefer one that's sleeping for my bookcase.
These skeleton are on the upper floor and the kid skeleton is very unusual and very interesting.
I already have a huge one I got from my dad which is really nice, and I still need to distress it so it will look like these ones.
Those old-bone colours are great and give skeletons a whole new dimension instead of the classroom version of white plastic.

The back wall behind the counter encounters many different types of skulls, from many periods of time and evolutionary states of the homo sapience.

If you like natural curiosities, this is the place to shop indeed. great place for browsing and learning, and the staff are filled with knowledge about the relics thats for sale.

for contact and shipping, i have added the contact information here below.

Deagostini My disneyland Japanese scale model Diorama. マイディズニーランド

Tilføj billedtekst

All right I wanted to this model kit coverage for a long time, but I felt I needed to get enough parts before it would be the slightest interesting.
In 2007 The company Deagostini made a 100 issue magazine for the Japanese market containing parts enough to build your own Disneyland.
The model has a working train,  over 50 lights and moving parade parts controlled from under the base.
all the parts were kinda well scattered so it takes time before you can complete a whole area,
here Tomorrowland starting to take place with the Space mountain and Star tours ride building.
some of the parts are more rare and wanted on the net today, even though its super rare outside japan, you might be able to find parts on eBay ect.
The matterhorn parts are among the most popular for Disneyland scale model Collectors.

I try to get as many parts I can from the web because I got the first issues in Kinokuniya in Shinjuku and they don't care the magazine any more.
The magazine is not a big deal, its clear that Deagostini made these issues for the parts.
Its typical only 10 pages with trivia and small stories from Walt Disney Imagineering (all in japanese) and about the animated features.
Here is the casey Jr circus train and Big thunder mountain train, these carts are not moving, its only the Disneyland rail road thats motorised .

All the parts are made in resin and hand painted, there are many finishes such as water effects and metallic paints.

the first issues contained the centrepiece castle from the Disneypark, including transparent water base with swans and flags from the turrets.
The partners statue with Walt and Mickey is Die cast metal and super heavy, this gives this particular part a very nice quality feeling,
Moving on to the fantasyland parts, in my opinion these are the most cute and accurate in color and architecture.
The peter pan ride building and the teacups are adorable.

also take a Look at the storybook land monstro.
This is actually a great tribute to Mary Blair,  the Small world ride is super cute and kept in the precise style, and the ride even has interiors with dolls and water effect.

The ride building top can be lifted off and shows the inside, its very simplified but still a great detail.
 '
You can arrange the dolls yourself and the set includes 6 different dolls including Hawaii, Japan and Denmark.

when all Fantasyand comes together there's a wonderful world of colour, unfortunately I still haven't got the Dumbo ride yet, but it will be a great addition to the area.

In some of the first issues you also receive a blueprint of the model to keep track on everything position, its great to learn the position this way before you get to assemble the actual wooden base.

Here's a little close-up on the storybook land with the palace of Agrabah and all the well arranged flowers, you can also find toad hall and the seven dwarf's cottage on the model, Just like in the park.
Moving along to the warm jungle, where the skippers always has cocky jokes ready for you, the junglecruise parts are just as great as the attraction.
Its reminding me a lot of Olszewskis Jungle cruise model, super rich on detal and texture.
In general i like that all parts are cast in resin, which makes them very heavy and firm

I think the most told story about Disneylands main street and entrance might be the fire brigade house story.
Whenever Walt was in the park the lamp at the fire brigade house was lid so all castmembers knew he was there.
When Walt died, the lamp has been lid ever since to show that his spirit is in the park the day today.
this is of course also represented in the model
you simply lift the roof and, wow, there's a little red table with a lamp on it. amazing right.

Well, more and more parts comes together and the Disneyland is rising slowly, main street, the Disneyland Rail-road station, and New Orleans square are now almost complete.

Here is some of the Main street buildings that snaps wonderful together shaping the legendary American alley packed with shops and wonderful music.
Another picture showing mainstreet on the blueprint.
Here comes the base parts with The matterhorn parts.
The base is wonderful and important, but its never fun to get a new Issue of the magazine and only get a wooden box for your collection. But the again, when you got them all, you feel that it was worth the wait.
All the holes is for cables that are connected to a motherboard with all the LED light.

The base-parts comes with small figures you can put in the park, I actually don't like those figures, the scale is all wrong and they really don't fit in.

The base goes together by 9 parts with small screws and this is an easy job.
Its super important though that this is done right because, the holes need to be super accurate to make it possibl3e to draw the cables from one box to another.
3
When the base is done you're ready to install the light, But I haven't got those yet.

I really like these Toon town backgrounds that slide behind the base and the model to create a horizon.
Also the toontown begins to wake up.
When the bases comes as well the parts will rise half an inch as well, right now this looks strange, but the final floor elevation will be just as small world next to Toon-town.

Heres an example of the bases on the wodden lower base..

Got the Boats for small world and Storybook voyage as well now.

The hole in the middle is for the parade parts that's moving and is also connected to the same motherboard inside the base.

I will make another update later with the last parts. stay tuned.
